Is this course officially recognised?
We are approved by Transport for NSW (TfNSW), through our partnership with an authorised Registered Training Organisation (RTO – No. 91487), to deliver face-to-face Boat Licence and PWC (Jet Ski) training in the Bega Valley region.
This online course is a stand-alone preparation resource designed to help you understand boating rules, safety requirements, and licence-test content so you’re confident and ready for the official assessment or just want to be safe on the water.
If you choose to complete this course online, please note that all official licence assessments and applications must be completed in person at a Service NSW or TfNSW centre, or through an approved RTO.
Bonus learning pathway: The knowledge gained here can also support your understanding of commercial qualifications. If you later complete at least one day (8 hours) of seatime on a commercial vessel, it may help you prepare for the Coxswain Grade 3 Near Coastal Certificate (a nationally recognised commercial qualification).
For more information about the Coxswain Grade 3 Near Coastal Certificate, visit our commercial training site at sistershiptraining.com.
Can this course lead to a commercial skipper qualification?
Not directly. This course is an independent preparation program designed to build your boating knowledge and confidence.
However, the skills and understanding you gain here can help you prepare for future study or training — for example, the Coxswain Grade 3 Near Coastal Certificate (a nationally recognised qualification administered by AMSA).
If you decide to pursue that pathway later, you’ll need to complete the official AMSA-approved training and meet their seatime, First Aid, and medical requirements.
How long is the course?
The course includes 4 hours of video content, broken into 19 short, practical lessons. Each lesson includes real boating examples and a short quiz to help lock in your learning.
So you’ll need at least 4 hours to watch the content and then it depends on how long you spend on the quizzes – they usually take around 30-40 mins in total.
How long will it take to complete?
Get through the course in just 3–4 hours.
Study at your own pace, with full control to pause, review, and revisit at any time.
How long do I have access?
You can choose 7, 14, or 30 days of access — whichever suits your schedule.
The shorter timeframes are designed to keep you focused and on track, so you can get licensed faster.
Need more time?
You’ll have the option to add an extra 7 days at a discounted rate once your access ends.
Can I extend my access if I need more time?
Absolutely. If your course access is about to expire, you’ll have the option to add 7 extra days for just $19.99 AUD.
All your progress will be saved, and you can continue right where you left off.
You’ll see a reminder 2 days before your access ends with a link to extend.
Do I get a certificate?
Yes — you’ll receive a Certificate of Completion once you finish all modules.
If you need to show proof that you’ve completed the course, please provide a screenshot of your course completion page. This helps us match your record with our internal system and confirm your progress.
You cannot apply for a refund with the course completion certificate, it has to be a screenshot of the completion page.
Is this a one-time payment?
Yes — just one payment gives you full access. No subscriptions, no hidden fees..
Is my payment secure?
Absolutely. All payments are securely processed using encrypted industry-standard platforms like PayPal. We never store your payment details. If you prefer to make a direct transfer please contact us: jackie@sistershiptraining.com or 0458 391 660
Can I get a refund?
We don’t offer refunds for change of mind. This helps us keep the course affordable for everyone.
However, we do offer a pass or money back guarantee — if you complete the full course and don’t pass your test. (Please note the time limitations in our T&Cs/disclaimer and proof of course completion/TfNSW course fail etc)
How do I book my theory test?
Find your local Services office (Transport for NSW), turn up and sit your test. It’s as easy as that. Their fee is $42.
Book your boat licence test here (includes locations)
At some locations you may be able to just turn up (we can at our regional office) – but check first you may need to book a date/time.
TfNSW costs: $43 (Boat Licence) $21 (Jet Ski) – $64 (both)
Please note: All theory tests are conducted directly by Transport for NSW or Service NSW. This course does not administer or book these tests on your behalf.
What happens if I fail my test?
Everyone who has completed this course so far has passed on their first attempt.
We have been delivering the NSW Boat Licence and Jet Ski Licence course for more than five years.
If you do not pass on your first attempt, you can revisit the quizzes and try again with confidence. If needed, you may also request a refund in line with our terms and conditions. Please note that time limits apply.
(T&Cs apply).
